Focus: Science, technology, engineering, and math.

Appealing to kids: The over 450 exhibits are interactive, explained in an approachable manner, and have buttons to press and levers to pull. Especially popular with children are Preschool Place for kids up to age 6 (although realistically it skews much younger than that), the Science Playground (outdoors, weather permitting), and Rocket Park Mini Golf (also outdoors). In addition, the museum offers workshops for preschoolers and school-aged children and after-school science camps. Be sure to check the calendar for special exhibits and 3D Theater presentations. The library is a quiet place for reading, and the store carries a wide range of science-related toys and novelty items, plus a well-chosen selection of children’s books.

Admission: Adults (18 and over) $11; Seniors/Students with college ID $8; Children (2-17) $8; Members and Children under 2 Free. Additional fees apply for the Science Playground, Rocket Park Mini Golf, and 3D Theater presentations. Free admission, September through June, on Fridays 2PM-5PM and Sundays 10AM-11AM. There is currently no online ticket purchasing.

Stroller policy: You may bring your stroller throughout the museum. For your convenience, there is also a coat and bag check ($1 per item).

Elevators: Yes.

Changing table: There are restrooms with changing tables on every floor.

Food & drink: There is a café on the main floor with indoor and (weather permitting) outdoor seating available. No outside food allowed.

Other kid-friendly amenities: Birthday parties are available.
