The focus: Like its sister zoo in Central Park, this is a small zoo with sea lions, baboons, tamarins, prairie dogs, tropical birds, red pandas, deer, dingoes, amphibians, reptiles, and bats. There is also a barn with farm animals including alpacas, goats, sheep, turkeys, and ducks.

Admission: Adults (13 and over) $8, Seniors (65+) $6, Children (3-12) $5, Members and Children 2 and under Free.

Stroller policy: You may bring your stroller anywhere except inside the restrooms. The main zoo entrance leads to a long flight of stairs, so if you wish to avoid this, use the wheelchair-accessible entrance at Children’s Corner, further south on Flatbush Ave. and Empire Blvd., near the Carousel and Lefferts Historic House.

Changing tables: Yes.

Food & drink: The Sea Lion Café has for sale a limited menu including pre-prepared sandwiches, yogurt, cut vegetables and fruit, snacks, and drinks. Otherwise you may bring your own lunch and sit at any of the indoor or outdoor tables. There are no high chairs.

Other kid-friendly amenities: Children’s activitiescamps and classes, and birthday parties are available.
