Park features: Green space, a playground, a dog run, the city’s largest Greenmarket.

Playground: Three different sections for different age groups. In the first, for the youngest children, are a large play structure, a sandbox with water feature, and bucket and special needs swings. In the second section are sprinklers, assorted climbing equipment, two tall slides, a tunnel slide, and speaking tubes. In the final section, for the oldest children, are a giant metal dome, a suspended spinning wheel, and a climbing wall.

Playground safety notes: Although the playground is surrounded by trees, it doesn’t get a lot of shade. The slides and dome are made of metal and can get very hot. This is also a busy playground, but it is helpful that the different sections are separated by gates. There are two gates for entry into the playground.

Public restrooms: Yes, in the third section of the playground. There is a changing table.

Food & drink: The Greenmarket is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8AM-6PM. There are also plenty of restaurants around the park, as well as a Whole Foods on Union Square S. and a Trader Joe’s on E. 14th St. btwn 3rd Ave. & Irving Pl.

Other info: The park offers free seasonal events, including children’s concerts on Thursdays during the summer. There is free WiFi throughout the park.
